Rod Carveth(Ph.D., University of Massachusetts-Amherst) is an Associate Professor of Strategic Communication at the School of Global Journalism & Communication at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD, USA. In addition, Rod is the Graduate Program Director for the School.
Prior to coming to Morgan State, Rod served as Chairperson of Communication Departments at the University of Bridgeport and at Marywood University. He was also Graduate Program Director at the University of Hartford, and the Director of the Institute for Communication Research at Texas Tech University.
Rod was a member of the National Communication Association Task Force on the Digital Divide, and since 2003 has been Vice-President of the Partnership for Progress on the Digital Divide, the only academic professional organization in the world focused solely on the digital divide and on connecting research to policy-making and practice to strategize actions and catalyze solutions to this pressing societal concern. From 2007-2018 Rod was also Vice-President for Development for the Center for Ethical Solutions, a bioethics think-tank in VA.
Rod is the Editor of Media Economics: Theory and Practice, as well as nearly 50 journal articles and book chapters. He also serves on several journal Editorial Boards, including Communication Research Reports, Qualitative Research Reports, Business and Professional Communication Quarterly and the International Journal of Business Communication.
